I’ve been wanting to create a recipe for homemade barbecue sauce, but haven’t quite had the guts to try. I thought it was going to be a lot harder than it actually was. I like a barbecue sauce that has a little bit of sweetness to it, so that is what I made…a barbecue sauce with a little brown sugar in it. Well, as I was taste testing it my husband walks in and before he even tastes it says, “I don’t like sweet barbecue sauce”. Since I was making some ribs for dinner that night, mainly because he LOVES ribs, I decided I better spice it up a little so he will like it! So, thats what I did and it came out perfect and he LOVED it! He actually said he wouldn’t change anything about the way I made it, and trust me…he’s not afraid to be honest! 🙂 Here’s the recipe:
Ingredients
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup dijon mustard
1/4 cup red wine
1/4 cup worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1/8 cup soy sauce
1/8 cup minced onion
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/8 cup minced onion
2 cloves garlic-minced
1 tablespoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon cumin
few dashes of cayenne pepper-optional
small amount of vegetable oil to sauté onions
