Clean Eating Brownies

IMG_2179

So, three years ago when I was pregnant for the first time I had a serious craving for brownies.  Well, three years later and that craving has not gone away…ughhh, makes it hard because I just.want.brownies. I’m always trying to eat healthy so, after many attempts at healthy recipes, I finally found one that I think is GREAT!  It’s even a clean eating/paleo recipe.  It’s packed with protein and nutrients!

Clean Eating Brownies

Ingredients

1 cup almond butter

1/4 cup maple syrup

1/4 cup water

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla

1/2 cup cocoa powder (you can use less but I like mine rich!)

1/2 tsp baking soda

Directions

Preheat oven to 325 and grease a 8x8in pan.  Mix the almond butter, maple syrup, egg, water, and vanilla and whisk until mixed well.  In a separate bowl, mix the cocoa powder and baking soda together.  Then, whisk the dry ingredients into the wet and stir until combined.  Pour into prepared pan and bake for 20 minutes.  Sometimes, as a treat, I throw in a handful of chocolate chips!)  (I bought my almond butter fresh, so that’s why you see tiny bits of almonds in my brownie.)
